God’s
very nature is love. He can never
do anything that goes against this.
Never in your lifetime will God ever
involve you in His plan unless it
is the very best thing for you. Therefore,
He can never lead you the wrong way.
His nature will not let Him.
It is true that God
brings discipline, judgment, and wrath
on those who continue in sin and rebellion.
But even this discipline is always
based on love.
For
the Lord disciplines those he loves,
and he punishes those he accepts as
his children. - Hebrews 12:6
Do
not ignore it when the Lord disciplines
you, and do not be discouraged when
he corrects you. For the Lord corrects
those he loves, just as a father corrects
a child in whom he delights. - Proverbs
3:11
No matter what your
life is like right now and no matter
what circumstances you are in right
now, God loves you and He always will.
God showed that He loves each one
of us when He sacrificed His only
son Jesus so that we would have eternal
life. When you really believe that
God is love, you will also believe
that His plan for you is the best
plan...no matter what things look
like to you at this moment.
Learning God’s plan and taking
part in God’s plan is a series
of steps that go like this:
The more experiences you have with
God, the more you will believe He
loves you.
When you believe He loves you, you
learn to trust Him.
When you trust Him, you learn to love
Him.
When you love Him, you learn to obey
Him.
The Bible tells us that when we reach
this point of really trusting God...trust
that is 100% certain, absolutely,
positively, beyond the shadow of a
doubt trust...then we will have no
problem obeying God.
Loving
God means keeping his commandments,
and really, that is not difficult.
- 1 John 5:3
One way that God expresses His love
to us is by giving us commands. At
first, we might not like these commands,
but think of them this way...suppose
you had to cross a field full of land
mines. A person who knows exactly
where every one of the mines is buried
offers to take you safely through
the minefield. Would you say to him,
“I don’t want you to tell
me what to do. Do not impose your
ways on me! You are just trying to
take all the joy out of my life. I
will do it my way!”
I do not know about you, but I would
stay as close to that guide person
as I could. I certainly would not
go wandering off to “do it my
way”. The guide’s directions
to me would preserve my life. He would
say, “Do not go that way, because
that way will kill you. Go this way
and you will live”. I would
follow the guide’s advice. In
the very same way, God’s commands
are designed to guide us to what is
best, now and into eternity.
