| God
takes the initiative to bring you into a loving
relationship with Himself. He does this by showing
you that He first loved you...by sending His son
to die in your place to pay the price for your
sin. God wants you to love Him in return.
Jesus said:
“You shall love
the Lord your God with all your heart, with all
your soul, and with all your mind. This is the
first and great commandment. - Matthew:
22:37-38
In this Scripture,
Jesus tells us that the very greatest commandment
is to love God with all our heart, soul, and mind.
The most important thing God wants from you is
for you to love Him with all your being. Everything
about you working together with God depends on
this. Jesus also said this:
Those
who obey my commandments are the ones who love
me. And because they love me, my Father will love
them, and I will love them. And I will reveal
myself to each one of them. - John
14:21
From these verses, it can be clearly seen that
if you want God to reveal Himself to you, you
must love Him and obey Him. But because we are
all sinners, we do not naturally seek after God
to love Him and obey Him. Therefore, if we are
to have any relationship with Him, God has to
take the initiative. This is exactly what God
does. God draws us to Himself. Here are two Bible
verses that show how God does this:
The
Lord your God will cleanse your heart and the
hearts of all your descendants so that you will
love him with all your heart and soul, and so
you may live! - Deuteronomy 30:6.
You
did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed
you to go and bear fruit, and that your fruit
should remain. - John 15:16.
Are you responding
to God’s call to have a close relationship
with Him? God may be waiting until you respond
to His loving invitation to a relationship. Only
then will He entrust an assignment to you.
