Pastors beaten in Jhabua District of Madhya Pradesh

On November 30th, Pastor Hatey Singh Gundiya and Pastor Gokul Gundiya were beaten by a mob of RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh) extremists in the Jhabua district of Madhya Pradesh.

The pastors were on their way to Jhabua to sell peanuts and were awaiting a bus near Umria village which is 15 kilometers away from Jhabua. However, as they were waiting, a group of around 10 people arrived at the bus stand and started questioning the pastors as to what they were doing in ‘their’ area. And then, two people from the mob started beating them with huge bamboo sticks. The beatings came to a halt only when people at the bus stand who knew the pastors objected.

Both pastors have sustained physical injuries. They have lodged an FIR (First Information Report) against the attackers under sections 323 and 504 of the Indian Penal Code. The pastors have also been sent for a medical examination.

Christians in Madhya Pradesh, especially in Jhabua need our prayers for protection on their lives. Pray that the attackers would be brought to justice in the recent incident that has occurred in Jhabua.
