Christians need to be in some aspect of ministry.
Ministry in the Christian life is not an option it is a command.
God has given every believer at least one spiritual gift and that gift is to be used in the ministering of the Gospel to others, whether they are unbelievers or Christians.
1. OUR WORKS ARE ALREADY PREPARED FOR US
Ephesians:2:10: For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good
works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
2. OUR WORKS ARE A TESTIMONY OF OUR SALVATION
James: 2:20: But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?
James: 2:26: For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
1 Timothy: 5:25: Likewise also the good works of some are manifest beforehand; and they that are otherwise cannot be hid.
3. OUR WORKS MAY BE ON A SMALL SCALE
Colossians: 4:15: Salute the brethren which are in Laodicea, and Nymphas, and the church which is in his house.
Nymphas is only mentioned once in the Bible yet God mentioned him because he had a church in his house.
Nymphas gave what he could to the furtherance of the Gospel.
We may only be able to offer something small but nevertheless, if that is all we can do, then that is contributory to the work of the Lord.
Hebrews:6:10: For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have showed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.
4. OUR WORKS WILL CAUSE US TO BE OPPOSED
3 John 1:9: I wrote unto the church: but Diotrephes, who loveth to have the preeminence among them, receiveth us not.
5. OUR WORKS MUST BE CHRIST-CENTERED
Galatians: 6:14: But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.
1 Corinthians: 3: (12) Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; (13) Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.
6. OUR WORKS MUST NEVER BE HALF-HEARTED
2 Corinthians: 12:15: And I will very gladly spend and be spent for you; though the more abundantly I love you, the less I be loved.
Acts: 9:36: Now there was at Joppa a certain disciple named Tabitha, which by interpretation is called Dorcas: this woman was full of good works and almsdeeds which she did.
7. OUR WORKS MUST NEVER BE FOR BOASTING
Ephesians: 2:9: Not of works, lest any man should boast.
8. WE ARE TO BE RICH IN GOOD WORKS
1 Timothy: 6:17-18: Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy; {18} That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate…
9. WE WILL BE KNOWN BY OUR WORKS
Titus: 1:16: They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.
Titus: 2:7: In all things showing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine showing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity…
10. OUR WORKS MUST BE PROFITABLE FOR OTHERS
Titus: 3:8: This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men.
11. OUR WORKS MUST BEAR FRUIT
Titus 3:14: And let ours also learn to maintain good works for necessary uses, that they be not unfruitful.
